Family is everything.
Remember when you fell off your bike and got all banged up? I do and it happened a lot. Something about being young and invincible or perhaps not learning the lesson that speed, loose gravel and a steep hill are never a good combination. My mother was always there to wipe away the tears, tell me I will be alright and apply as many bandages as necessary. These are the things that stick with you throughout life. Family.
Getting married and raising a family was another adventure in the game of life. My goal was to always help my kids learn and experience life in a positive way. That didn’t mean everything was perfect or without mistakes. I think failure is a great learning experience. I once learned from an innovation class, it’s best to fail fast and fail cheap. I think life can be that way. Celebrate the wins and learn from the losses.
Lessons continue throughout life and into our workplaces. I am sure we have all had a coworker save the day for us whenever we couldn’t solve a problem or made a mistake. Perhaps, we’re having a bad day, and a coworker notices and makes an effort to cheer us up. Life is full of ups and downs. Family.
I consider my musician friends another family. These are like-minded people that have helped me on my journey with performing, songwriting, recording, mixing, mastering and even guitar. Their inspiration and encouragement has been priceless. Family.
Life is a tough journey, but it’s a whole lot nicer with family. Have an awesome day.
